Description

Sound Trace is a tactical, turn-based strategy prototype. Your goal is to clear/claim enough area within a procedural layout of rooms. Your enemies are blind, but they react to the sound of every action you make. To reach your objective, explore rooms, craft items, set traps, and manipulate doorways and soundwaves to attract or scare off enemies.

🎮 Features:

  • Sound-Based Mechanics: Move carefully, manage noise, and use the environment to your advantage.
  • Procedural Layouts: Every run offers a fresh challenge with unique room configurations.
  • Tactical Turn-Based Stealth: Think a few steps ahead to outsmart relentless pursuers.
  • Achievements & Tracking: Test your skills and unlock achievements as you figure out the best survival strategies.

🕹️ Controls:

  • Mouse: Primary control for all UI and gameplay interactions.
  • Keyboard: Optional - used only for centering the camera on the player's current room.

🛠️ About the Prototype:

This is my first larger project, built primarily to test core gameplay mechanics - and to see if I was actually capable of delivering and finishing a project of this scale. Because it is an early prototype, please keep in mind:

  • Graphics & Polish: Do not expect top-tier visuals, complete flawlessness, or full professionalism just yet. At this stage, the interface is designed strictly to provide core functionality rather than to look flawless or perfectly polished.
  • Procedural Generation: Since rooms and layouts are procedurally generated, not every single generated run will be winnable.
  • Sound & Features: Ironically, actual audio effects for the player experience are not yet implemented, and a few achievements are still in the process of being integrated.
  • Warning! The narrator's distinct voice and sense of humor throughout the descriptions might not be to everyone's personal taste.

💬 Feedback & Community Ideas:

I would like to hear your thoughts. Any bug reports or general feedback on your experience would mean a lot to me. Specifically, I’m really interested to know:

  • What are the pros and cons of the current gameplay?
  • Was anything too confusing or unclear? Is a detailed tutorial needed, or did you notice any inconsistencies in descriptions?
  • What ideas or new mechanics would you like to see in the future?
  • Would you be interested in a Multiplayer mode or a limited map visibility feature?
